What we did

This Beavercreek roof had three layers of shingles. Ohio's residential code lists when a new roof may not go over an old one, including "Where the existing roof has two or more applications of any type of roof covering" (Residential Code of Ohio, section R908.3.1.1), so all three came off, down to the deck. We built the new roof to the Helping Hands Roofing Standard with Owens Corning Duration shingles.
