Wind damage on this roof. The insurer first covered a repair that did not match, so we documented it, and the insurer then covered a full roof replacement. Every photograph below is our own.

About this project
The homeowner had wind damage on his roof. Another roofing contractor had knocked on his door, and he called us to take over the claim.
What we found
We found the wind damage and installed an emergency tarp to protect the roof.
The insurance company first covered a repair. We removed the damaged shingles, installed ice and water shield under the entire repair area, and installed new shingles.
Why it mattered
The new shingles did not come close to matching the rest of the roof. Ohio Administrative Code 3901-1-54(I)(1)(b) says: "When an interior or exterior loss requires replacement of an item and the replaced item does not match the quality, color or size of the item suffering the loss, the insurer shall replace as much of the item as to result in a reasonably comparable appearance."
What we did
We sent the insurance company the photos and documentation, and the insurer then covered a full roof replacement.
We tore the roof off down to the deck, installed new underlayment and finished the roof with new shingles.
Materials and system used: emergency tarp, ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment, new asphalt shingles
